THE NEXT STEP IS DOING.
A good project changes how you see your field. A good mentor helps you go further with it.
Working Theory brings high school and university students together in small teams to tackle a substantial technical project, guided by researchers and industry professionals. Ask better questions, test your ideas, and build something you can explain with confidence.
Join an upcoming cohort as a student or lead a program as a mentor.
SMALL TEAMS. SUBSTANTIAL WORK.
A little structure. A lot of room to explore.
Tell us your interests and experience. We work toward a project, mentor, and pod that fit.
Meet weekly, work independently together, and keep the conversation going on Discord.
Present your project, document your contribution, and leave with work you can build on.
FIND YOUR NEXT QUESTION
Explore our proposed program tracks. Final projects, mentors, and dates will be confirmed before enrollment.
PROPOSED PILOTComputer vision & perception
Turn camera data into useful decisions. Build, test, and evaluate a perception pipeline for an autonomous system.
PROPOSED PILOTRobot learning & manipulation
Explore how robots learn to act. Work together on a manipulation task in simulation and evaluate a learned policy.
PROPOSED PILOTSLAM & autonomous navigation
Connect sensing, mapping, and motion. Build and evaluate a navigation system using recorded data and simulation.
The pilot starts online, using public datasets and simulation. Any in-person or hardware component will be specified separately.
A MENTOR IN YOUR CORNER
Bring your questions, your experiments, and your unfinished ideas. Your mentor helps your pod turn them into a clear next step.
Find your programOne focused meeting every week to review progress, work through decisions, and plan what comes next.
Build with two other students. Share ideas, divide responsibilities, and learn how a technical team works.
A private Discord channel for questions, feedback, and the moments when you get stuck.
Optional local mentor meetups, matched by location and shared interests, where mentors are available.
A shared repository, final demo, technical write-up, and an individual assessment of your contribution.
KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SIGNING UP FOR
16 weekly, one-hour mentor meetings. Plan for another 4–6 hours of project work each week; the final brief will confirm the workload.
Your pod has a private Discord channel. Mentor replies are planned within two working days, with progress and code feedback between meetings.
Present a final demo, publish a portfolio write-up, and receive an individual assessment. You may request a reference based on your performance and the mentor's judgment.
Your expertise. Someone else's next step.FOR RESEARCHERS & INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
Lead a small pod through a project in your field. Bring your expertise and an existing project idea. We organize the experience around it.
A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS
Explore the program details and what to expect.
High school and university students who want to apply their knowledge to a substantial robotics or perception project. Each program lists its technical prerequisites. Students should be ready to work independently, collaborate, and contribute every week.
We are collecting interest for our upcoming cohorts and recruiting mentors. The tracks shown are proposed programs. Mentor profiles, dates, the final project brief, and enrollment terms will be shared before you commit or pay.
We plan to match three students around shared interests, compatible prerequisites, availability, and time zones. Your individual contribution will be documented alongside the team's work.
Each student's weekly fee covers the scheduled mentor meeting and that week's agreed Discord support and feedback. Across 16 sessions, tuition is €1,600 per student. Final billing, applicable taxes, and cancellation terms will be confirmed before enrollment. Applying is free.
We plan optional local mentor meetups as a student perk, based on geography and shared interests. Meetups depend on nearby mentors and their availability. Arrangements and any requirements for students under 18 will be confirmed for each cohort.
This is a mentored learning program. It does not currently offer employment, academic credit, or university endorsement. Any future company placement or institutional partnership would be identified explicitly.
Every completing student is intended to receive an honest individual assessment and a record of their contribution. A mentor may separately agree to act as a reference or write a recommendation based on observed performance. A positive reference is not guaranteed.
The proposed online pilots use public datasets and simulation. Physical robots and lab access are not included by default. Any hardware or in-person requirements will be listed before enrollment.
YOUR NEXT CHAPTER STARTS WITH A QUESTION.
Three students. One mentor. Four months of doing.
